Proposed Bylaw No. 27/2008 |
 |
The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 2007 hereby gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No. 27/2008 to permit semi-detached dwellings, and to establish development standards for Planned Unit Developments.
The proposed bylaw zoning amendment may be inspected in the office of the Director of Planning and Engineering, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., all holidays excepted and up until 12:00 noon Friday September 5, 2008.

Any person may make oral or written representation to City Council at its meeting to be held on Monday September 8, 2008 in the City Hall Council Chambers, Yorkton, Saskatchewan at 5:00 p.m. All submissions must be submitted in writing by 12:00 noon Thursday September 4, 2008 to Bonnie Schenher, City Clerk. Oral or written submissions will be considered when the Public Hearing, in respect to this application, is in session.

Proposed Bylaw No. 29/2008 |

The Council of the City of Yorkton pursuant to Section 207 of The Planning and Development Act, 2007 hereby gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No. 29/2008, which is an amendment to City of Yorkton Zoning Bylaw No. 14/2003 to recognize existing single-family dwellings along York Road, between Maple Avenue and Fourth Avenue North and various locations along Myrtle Avenue currently zoned City Centre Commercial C-1 Zoning District, and dwellings along Smith Street West zoned MI-1 Light Industrial, as legal conforming uses.
Bylaw No. 29/2008 proposes that the affected properties be rezoned to CT-1 City Centre Commercial (Transitional), R-1 General Residential and R-5 Mixed Density Residential where appropriate.

The Council of the City of Yorkton gives notice of its intention to pass Bylaw No.30/2008 to authorize the closing of the following laneways:
Firstly: "All of Crescent Street and portions of Eighth Avenue lying South of the southerly limit of Darlington Street, Registered Plan No. P2307, Yorkton Saskatchewan."
Secondly: "All that portion of Balmoral Street lying East of the Easterly limit of Seventh Avenue, Registered Plan No.02Y01012, Yorkton Saskatchewan."

The purpose of the road closings are to facilitate the construction of a stormwater pond on lands being obtained from Husky Energy (north end of property), and to provide a lot with better access so Husky can develop it for residential and/or commercial uses.
The proposed Bylaw No. 30/2008 may be inspected in the office of the Director of Planning and Engineering, City Hall by any person without payment of any fees between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:30 p.m., all holidays excepted and up to 12:00 noon on Friday September 5, 2008.
The proposed closure of the lanes is to allow for construction of a stormwater management pond on future City property, and greater development opportunities on the adjacent lots south of the future pond.

Applications Are Invited For The Position Of
Water Works Manager
Yorkton is seeking a key player for its Environmental Services Management Team. If you are interested in a high quality of life and a low cost of living, then Yorkton will appeal to you. Located on the Yellowhead Highway, Yorkton is a vibrant and progressive community of approximately 16,000 people serving as a hub to the beautiful Parkland region. Due to its large trading area, Yorkton has many larger city amenities and provides the quality of life of a smaller community.
Reporting to the Director of Environmental Services, the Water Works Manager is responsibility is to provide front line technical support and primary supervision for the Water Treatment Plant, Pollution Control Plant and Landfill. The Water Works Manager will supervise analytical laboratory work for operations, process and quality control, co-ordinates the mainline flushing program with the Sewer and Water Foreman, manage the bio-solids application, oversees personnel administration, budget preparation, control and reporting systems and landfill operations.
The Water Works Manager is responsible for hiring, training, performance and follow-up within a unionized environment. Must be able to meet the objectives and policies as set by the City. The position is also given great latitude for creative and innovative opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess:
- A diploma in Civil Engineering or Water Science Technology or equivalent.
- Possess or be able to obtain Saskatchewan Environment Certification in: Wastewater Treatment Class 4, Water Treatment Class 3, Water Distribution Class 3, Wastewater Collection Class 3.
- Obtain Fireman’s Certification.
- Candidates must demonstrate a working knowledge of; analytical lab equipment, procedures, quality control, computer spreadsheet and word processing programs, as well as, excellent verbal, written and supervisory skills.
- A high degree of personal initiative, good planning and organizational skills.
- Five years experience with at least two years at the supervisory level demonstrating a thorough knowledge of water and wastewater.
- Eligibility for membership in SASTT.
- A team player fostering positive communication with staff, contractors and citizens.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s license.
- Must possess and maintain RCMP security clearance.

Leisure Services is in the process of recovering unused prearranged lots in the City of Yorkton Cemetery on King Street, which were purchased prior to 1950. If you are listed as the purchaser or next of kin, please contact our office prior to September 22, 2008 to advise us if you are still intending on keeping this lot. If we do not hear from you or your representative by this date, we will proceed with an application to the provincial registrar for a declaration that interment rights have been abandoned.

- Reasonable efforts have been made to locate the buyer or the buyers personal representative have failed.
