Here's how it works:
The Dial-a-Bus Dispatcher will schedule a bus at the stop you
desire. You can take a short walk from most areas of the city to the bus
route and the stop that you have requested. The bus will then pick you up,
and drop you off at your desired stop. The bus operates on two routes
covering the north and south halves of the City. If you are shopping downtown, you can always
catch the bus at the Transit Center on the
hour and half hour.
For your convenience, the bus will also stop at both the Hospital (Stop #10) at 5 minutes past the hour and at the Parkland Mall (Stop #72) at 40 minutes past the hour.
Using the Dispatch - Call 786-1789:
The bus service has been designed to operate on a fixed route,
but on a varying schedule. To plan a trip on the bus, you have to learn
how to request a bus to be dispatched to your closest stop. Just follow the
instructions below and you'll be getting around the city in no time!
Find your location on the map, and the stop number where you want to be picked up.
Find your destination on the map and note its stop number.
Call the Dispatch Centre at 786-1789 and tell the dispatcher which stop you want to be picked up from, as well as which stop you want to be taken to.
The dispatcher will tell you the approximate time that the bus will arrive at your stop. Please note, that the times are approximate, so be at your stop about five minutes early.
That's all there is to using the Dial-a-Bus. When you want to call for your return trip, just call the dispatch centre again, and follow the same procedure.
